I'm a curious mind and a tech enthusiast, delving into the realms of Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. With an appetite for innovation, I seek to reshape possibilities and drive progress in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
I am Sathira Silva, a fourth-year Computer Engineering undergraduate at the esteemed University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. My journey as a problem solver and coder commenced after I triumphed in the General Certificate of Education - Advanced Level Examination in 2017, specializing in the Physical Science stream. At present, my academic pursuits are centered around a captivating Final Year Project entitled "Improving 3D Semantic Occupancy Prediction using Spatiotemporal Transformers." This project reflects my dedication to pushing the boundaries of technological innovation and my unyielding passion for diving deep into the intricate world of computer vision.
Computer Vision Engineering Intern
Vega Innovations | Dec. 2022 - Mar. 2023During my time at Vega Innovations, I was fortunate to partake in pioneering projects within the autonomous driving sector, further enhancing my knowledge and skills in the domain. I actively contributed to the development of computer vision solutions for autonomous vehicles, particularly focusing on object detection and perception tasks. My internship offered invaluable exposure to real-world challenges and complexities in implementing autonomous driving technology. Furthermore, I engaged in a comprehensive exploration of the NEAT (Neural Attention Fields for End-to-End Autonomous Driving) research paper by Andreas Geiger et al. (2021), applying these novel concepts to practical applications. This journey not only expanded my technical proficiency but also ignited a fervor for creative problem-solving and innovation within the ever-evolving realm of autonomous driving.
Teaching Assistant: Programming Methodology
University of Peradeniya | May 2021 - Sep. 2021In my role as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya, I actively contributed to the Programming Methodology course. This encompassed various responsibilities, including the supervision of weekly 2-hour long online lab sessions where I guided students through practical applications of programming concepts. Additionally, I was tasked with developing quiz questions based on the C programming language to evaluate students' understanding. I also offered personalized, one-on-one tutoring sessions, providing individualized support to students seeking to grasp the intricacies of C programming. Through these responsibilities, I helped facilitate a comprehensive learning experience for students, ensuring their proficiency in this fundamental programming language.
